open c tuning

open c tuning is a tuning that david crosby introduced to paul kantner. it has an ethereal, sitar-like sound to it. because of the configuration of the notes of the open strings, one can only really essentially play 5th chords on it rather than majors or minors. thus, it is good for modal experimentation, and as everyone knows, paul loves modes like no other. when paul wrote in open c, most of the songs are actually in g minor, but technically because of the tuning it would be called c dorian (saucers in particular, because it does use the g#). heres the voicings that are used in the airplane family songs in open c, they are all barred:

c: 000000
dm: 222222
eb: 333333
f: 555555
gm: 777777
g#: 888888
c2: 12-12-12-12-12-12
